Ballad of No-Toe Joe

June 7th-9th 25

I got to spend the weekend with my lovely partner Dill. It was full of such a wonderful blend of excitement and beautiful quiet.

We saw Chickahominy Mountain Band with Jas. It was my first time seeing them, they have a wonderful sound and presence. Very much sounded like honky-tonk Tom Waits.

"Bologna and White Bread" sold me

Despite the late night Dill and I managed to stumble out the door and help their friend move some flooring into a new studio space before Dill had band practice.

Though the original plan was to leave I ended up getting to watch practice and if that wasn't already good enough of a treat it lead to me spending another day with my Pine-cone King. Getting lunch and sitting in the park was such a magnificent way to spend my Sunday and it made me as happy as can be.

I've made the decision, despite using a website as my new hub, that this will be a low tech summer. I'm very inspired to decentralize my phone from my life. TikTok is deleted, Instagram is restricted to messages and only people I follow, and I'm even considering moving towards an analog method of calendar keeping. But Dill and I have decided that crosswords and reading dates shall replace my base instinct to rot on my phone.

Not entirely sure how far this nonsense will go. The duality of wanting to replace my phone but not being willing to pay for anything I don't NEED is truly a battle between two very strong wolves. But regardless I will use my little paper book, carry around a camera, and must find myself a crossword puzzle book.

Nature was especially beautiful today...

Nature was especially beautiful today and it only made me think of you.

I took mushrooms for the first time, not really enough to get high, but the child like whimsy that came with being in the woods was a wonderful treat. Spent the whole time thinking of you. Really wish you had been there. You would have loved the silly geese eating soggy pringles of the sand. And all the weird little freaks I found under rocks and rotted wood.
